Phase Zero: Alpha Pre-Accelerator Programme

The Alpha Pre-Accelerator Programme is a 4-day workshop conducted by venture capitalists and experienced mentors. It is only open to the participants that have registered for CIPTA 2017 (both the Open and Closed Category).

The workshop aims to teach participants how to go through:

– idea validation exercises

– product/MVP development

– go-to-market strategies

All in all, everyone who attend the workshop will get to test, fine tune and validate a scalable product, service or startup idea together with their peers.

Each group participating in the Open Category is encouraged to send at least one of their members to the programme. Priority to move on to Phase One will be given to those who attend this programme.

As there is limited space in the programme, Closed Category participants can apply for it on a first-come, first-served basis.

Phase One: Idea Pitching

Participants are to pitch their idea/invention/project/start-up to Malaysian prototype funders, Angel investors and venture capitalists during Phase One of the competition.

This challenge is open to all fields, be it humanities, business, or science. There is no restriction to the genre of the idea – the sky’s the limit!

Phase Two: Further Development

Open Category participants who make it through Phase One will be given resources, workspace, mentorship, internship, or funding – whichever the judges deem appropriate for them to use in Phase Two.

Phase Two will be going on throughout the summer of 2017, where the participants will work on bringing their ideas to reality by creating a prototype or a Minimum Viable Product (MVP). Teams are required to periodically submit a report on their progress and their use of finances.

Phase Three: Presentation

Participants will present their progress throughout Phase Two by means of any creative forms of reporting (e.g. video, report). The winners of CIPTA 2017 Open Category will then be selected by the sponsors.
